Gerrard Cowan is a writer and editor from Derry, in the North West of Ireland. He is the author of The Machinery, the first in a trilogy of fantasy novels acquired by Harper Voyager.
Gerrard is a News Editor at The Wall Street Journal, where he edits the business section of the European edition. He was previously the Europe Editor of Jane’s Defence Weekly and has worked as a reporter in his hometown for the Derry News. He studied History and English Literature at Trinity College, Dublin, and International Relations at King’s College, London.
His first known work was a collection of poems on monsters, written for Halloween when he was eight; it is sadly lost to civilisation. He lives in South East London with his wife Sarah and son Finn.
