Elaine Crowley (1927-2011) was one of Ireland’s finest female writers. She only began writing when her six children had all left home, and her work is known and loved for its wistful elegance and intimacy, focusing on historical Dublin and Ireland.

Her first novel Dreams of Other Days was an instant bestseller, and she wrote seven other romance novels and two volumes of autobiography. She spent her final years in Port Talbot.
