David Fathers is a mapmaker, walker and author/illustrator of three guidebooks to the waterways of London: The Regent’s Canal, The London Thames Path and London's Hidden Rivers (all published by Frances Lincoln/Quarto). His fourth guidebook, Bloody London (Conway/Bloomsbury, 2020), walks you through some of the capitals’ most gruesome and horrific history. His most recent book, Diverse London (Conway/Bloomsbury, 2022), guides you through the history, culture, religion and cuisine of the migrant communities that have made London so vibrant.
Through his books he discovers and maps the metropolis in his own particular way and hopefully getting others to explore new parts of London.
‘David Fathers has a beautiful way with words and pictures.’ Londonist

‘Numerous publications, several existing books, a selection of maps. Surely there is no room for another on the Thames Path. Wrong. The London Thames Path by David Fathers is described as a “unique richly illustrated walking guide”. That’s not hype - thanks to the author and artist. His beautiful illustrations and accompanying text highlighting fascinating facts about historic buildings, landmarks and features along the river adorn every page.’ River Thames News
‘And can I add even if you have no interest in walking London’s hidden rivers you should buy a copy, it’s rather beautifully done.’ Feargal Sharkey
