Chris d’Lacey is a children’s author, creator of the bestselling Last Dragon Chronicles and Unicorne Files series.

Originally hoping to be a songwriter, Chris didn’t write fiction until he was 32, and it was another few years before he saw his first book published. His greatest early success was a story about an injured racing pigeon called Fly, Cherokee, Fly, which was highly commended for the Carnegie Medal.

Since then he has written prolifically; his books deal with everything from the trials and tribulations of growing up, to the environment, animals and football. There’s usually a love interest in his books, as well as polar bears, pigeons, squirrels, snails, pirates, ducks and particularly dragons.

The Last Dragon Chronicles series was extremely successful on both sides of the Atlantic, featured on the New York Times bestseller list, and has sold over 4 million copies globally. He has since embarked on a new series called The Unicorne Files, but promises he won’t be away from dragons for too long. You can follow him on twitter at @chrisdlacey.

Born in Malta, Chris lived in Leicester for many years, and has now settled by the sea with his wife, Jay.
