Luminary Bakery is a social enterprise which has been helping disadvantaged women in London, including those who have experienced violence, been homeless or in prison, for several years now, by training them to bake. From humble beginnings in a café on Brick Lane and other nearby kitchens, Luminary opened its own doors in Stoke Newington in 2017, followed by a second premises in Camden in 2019. Their much sought-after produce are helping transform lives daily, with the women who take part in their courses acquiring new skills and confidence not only in the kitchen but also in employability and how to run a business, with more than one graduate now running an enterprise of her own.
Luminary Bakery’s cookbook Rising Hope was published by HarperCollins imprint HQ in 2020, and in the US by HarperDesign.
