Kris Manjapra is the Stearns Trustee Professor of History and Global Studies at Northeastern University. He works at the intersection of transnational history and the critical study of race and colonialism.
After gaining his PhD at Harvard University, he has worked around the world, including fellowships from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, the Radcliffe Institute of Advanced Study, the Wissenschaftskolleg zu Berlin and Tufts University.
He is the author of various academic works on colonialism, and was awarded the international 2019 Merck-Tagore Award. His next book, Black Ghosts of Empire, was published by Allen Lane UK and Scribner US in 2022.
