Penelope Slocombe grew up between a New Age community in the northeast of Scotland (famous for growing giant vegetables in sand dunes) and a tiny Hebridean island (famous for featuring in Robert Louis Stevenson’s novel Kidnapped). With Australian parents and coming from a long line of adventurous women, she is a keen traveller and is never happier than when walking in the mountains or by the sea.
Penelope studied English Literature at Glasgow University and holds an MA in Creative Writing from Manchester Metropolitan University. She has lived and taught English as a Foreign Language in India, Spain and London, where she currently resides with her family. Her debut novel Sunbirds is published by John Murray Press.
