Hannah King was born in County Down in 1994. She received a First Class degree in English with Creative Writing from Queen’s University Belfast in 2016, and went on become a proofreader at a Magic Circle law firm while studying for her Master of Arts in Creative Writing in 2017. Hannah’s work draws on the dark and twisting storytelling of her favourite writers Roald Dahl, Donna Tartt and Ian McEwan, and focuses on relationships, class, mental health and addiction… with a few murders thrown in for good measure. She likes to write love stories, though never in a romantic sense. Her short story ‘A Fair Grief’ featured in the 2019 publication Blackbird. Her debut novel, She and I (Raven Books, January 2022), is a work of literary crime and explores female friendship and the dangers of assumption. TV rights have been optioned by Firebird Pictures. Hannah’s second novel, The Blindspot, will be published in spring 2025.
